10 Things NOT to say to Pregnant Woman!

Most of you reading this are probably pregnant, have been pregnant, or going to be pregnant soon.(If you don't fall into the above, it might boring reading, but thank you anyway) I am sure once or twice someone has said something that just made you cringe while pregnant.  Here are some actual things that people have said recently. Surprisingly, most of the time in my case it has been woman!

1. Oh WOW! Any day now right?
No actually, I am only 7 months.

2. After I respond to #1.... Oh really? You look like you are 9 months!
Thanks for reminding me. You are so kind to compliment me for how healthy my growing child is.

3. Are you sure you don't want more food? You ARE eating for TWO?
One day I was at Fairway at one of the "Create your own salad bars". The woman turned to me and asked if that was all I was going to eat? First, thank you for noticing the basketball I was smuggling under my shirt and second.... NO! I am lucky I can force anything down, with the fire burning in my chest, my child using my bladder as a bench, and my ribs a a footrest.

4. You look tired, are you having trouble sleeping?
What gave away the fact I am tired\? Was it the bags under my eyes, the coffee in my hand, or are you just trying to make conversation?

5. Your pregnant? Should you be drinking coffee?
Do I know you? First, how do you know this is not decaf in my cup? Second, this is coffee WITH caffeine, and if you had a toddler, got not sleep and could not function, you would have a small cup of coffee too. Didn't you just tell me I looked tired?

6. Are you ready for the delivery? Are you scared?
Well even if I was, this baby can not stay inside forever!

7. Your having two girls? Oh jeez wait until the teenage years? Good Luck.<insert sympathy look> Are you going to try for a boy?
Yes, two girls might be a handful, but don't forget how much joy they will bring to my life. Have you ever thought about how raising two little boys will be, one of each... They all have their own trouble. No, we are not trying for more but thanks for asking.

8. I didn't know you were pregnant. When did this happen?
Well secrets out... That's not a basketball in there. Next time you wonder if someone is pregnant you should silently count back 9 months in your head instead of making both of us feel uncomfortable.

9. After telling work/friends I was pregnant the response was.... Yes I could tell you were looking a little heavier lately.
JUST KIDDING! Wouldn't that be funny. But no really. Thanks, I appreciate your honesty.

10. Don't stress... I am sure you are just emotional lately.
You want to see emotional...I'll give you emotional. I am actually like this all the time, I am just too tired to refrain myself currently.

26 Week Bump Update

Some days this pregnancy flies by....Others not so much. I am so excited to meet our sweet little girl, but not more excited than Ela. She talks about her all the time (by name....we will get to that fun part in a minute) and draws pictures of her etc. I feel really grateful she is so excited, but I hope that she shares this excitement when she is here.

**Whats going on this week?!**

How far along? 26  Weeks
How many weeks left? 14Weeks
Total weight gain: eww.... 17 pounds. Doctor states I am at a perfect weight gain, but I only gained 22 with Ela so I am shuddering.
Maternity clothes? Yes, even grew out of some of the smaller ones.
Food Craving of the Week: Grits, Spinach Salad, Pop Tarts(gross right)
Sleep: Ehh...Here and there. The pee pee monster has returned.
Best moment this week: Getting to spend time with my friend Lauren for a visit.
Movement: Yes, and pretty much on schedule.
Belly Button in or out? In but not for long...Protruding half way. Much quicker than last time.
What I miss: Sleep and a Pumpkin Beer
What I am looking forward to: The cooler fall weather.
Weekly Wisdom: I told another pregnant first time mom. Take your own advice...there is so much unsolicited advice out there.
Milestones: Got a few of Baby Sisters necessities
Ela's thoughts on Baby Sister: "Baby Sister is going to live with Ela in her room right? " Yes Ela. "Ok but I think I should move out then"

I had a doctors appointment last week and it was a busy week. I had to complete the glucose screening, get my Rhogam Shot, and test my thyroid. This pregnancy I only had to take the 1 hour glucose test but it did not make that awful flat orange soda go down any easier...lets hope for good results. Even though slightly earlier than last time, my OBGYN had me get the first dose of my Rohgam shot. If you don't know what a Rohgam shot is, I was blessed with the rare blood type of A-. Only 9% of the WORLD has this blood type. This normally does not pose a problem unless my husband is a positive blood type; which we learned he is in the last pregnancy. At 28 weeks and again after delivery I receive this shot so that a positive blood type in the baby does not attack my negative blood. (Sounds like the war of the bloods right) Ela is O+ , like her Tata so I required the shot again this time. I tested negative for the antibodies this time which could mean that this baby is a - blood type like me! Guess we will find out in December. As I delivered early last time, the OBGYN gave me the shot early. If I go full term I will have to get another shot as they only last 12 weeks(it will take me to 37 weeks) This is my first reality check that my type A personality, will not get to plan Baby B's arrival.
Check back for a separate blog post on Baby B's name! I cant keep it a secret anymore and well Ela never has kept it a secret!

Baby B has a name!

We have finally named our little girl!

Julia Marie Baran

How did we pick her name?
As if you could not tell with our little Elizabeth Sofia (Ela to most), Tomasz and I both like classic names. Although I always dream of having a fun trendy name, its just not our personality. I also did not want and overly popular name. (There was 7 Jessica's in my 2nd grade class) Julia was at the top of our list, and we narrowed it down to two names. In good fashion I googled, the name "Julia" and found out that there is a very famous Polish saint in the Catholic church. That was it! We really wanted to make sure that we incorporated our Polish heritage into her name as with Ela so our decision was made. We had a couple middle names in mind which were named after family members, however none of them flowed with Julia. Marie is my middle name and now I am honored to share the same initials as sweet Julia.

What does her name mean?
Julia- Youthful
Marie- Star of the Sea

What other names were on the list?
Audrey
Isabella
Autumn
We really liked Isabella, but could not have a "Bella" and "Ela"
